The mission of the Family Educator Organization (FEO) is to support the school community and Heads of School at Isthmus Montessori Academy by encouraging relationships between learners, families, the school, and the community. FEO is not a governing body but rather supports the work of the school through organizing events and fundraising, enhancing IMA’s and IMAP’s educational programs, matching the talents and energies of our families to needs in our school community, and helping build relationships between families to strengthen our wonderful community.
Any family or guardian with children enrolled in IMA’s programs, from the Nido to the Adolescent program, as well as the summer program, may become a part of the FEO by attending meetings or requesting to be added to our email list. Agendas and minutes are available for any community member to review in hard copy, in a binder in the school’s lobby. Events are chaired by families or pairs of families, and all families are invited to serve as volunteers when their schedules permit; occasional special committees convene to work on specific projects. Event chairs and special committees report to the FEO at monthly meetings. All school community volunteers are subject to background checks and orientation. FEO members recognize that they must model the Montessori values of Grace and Courtesy and treat all members of our community with peaceful respect, including learners, staff, guides, fellow families, and community members.
