Title IX Notice of Non-Discrimination

Isthmus Montessori Academy, Inc. (IMA) and its member institutions do not discriminate on the basis of sex in their education programs and activities; Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 is a federal law that states at 20 U.S.C. §1681(a): “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”

The Teacher-Leader Team shall designate shall designate an administrator to serve as the Title IX coordinator, whose duties shall include overseeing all Title IX complaints and identifying and addressing any patterns or systemic problems that arise during the review of such complaints.

Inquiries concerning the application of Title IX may be referred to each member institution’s Title IX coordinator or the Office for Civil Rights of the United States Department of Education. Each member institution shall include on its website and in its general catalog, its Title IX coordinator’s name, office address, telephone number, and email address.

Although it is the application of Title IX to athletics that has gained the greatest public visibility, the law applies to every single aspect of education, including course offerings, counseling and counseling materials, financial assistance, student health and insurance benefits and/or other services, housing, marital and parental status of students, physical education and athletics, education programs and activities sponsored by the institution, and employment.

Member institutions shall notify all students and employees of the name or title and contact information of its Title IX coordinator.

The following individuals have been designated to handle inquiries regarding non-discrimination policies at IMA and are responsible for coordinating compliance efforts concerning, Executive Order 11246, Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX Educational Amendments of 1972, Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Age Discrimination Act of 1990:
