Come for the DEEP Meeting, Stay for the FTO Meeting

IMA’s DEEP meeting is this Tuesday, the 23rd, from 5:30-6:30. But be sure and stay for the FTO (Family/Teacher Organisation) meeting, from 6:30-7:30.

Our FTO meeting will focus on how to support IMA as we move forward into our new Public Charter phase.

Come join us for this exciting time in IMA’s history!

Attention: Opportunities to help this week!

Dear IMA Families,

Hopefully this finds you well and echoing our news of celebration regarding IMA becoming a public school in 2018!

As our school community turns towards positive changes of public access, we welcome the opportunity to do the heavy lifting this transition will require. This effort will be the collaboration of our existing school community as well as the growing student body and their families.

Can you please help the school with the following items:

  • Come to the FTO meeting on Tuesday, January 23 and bring a notebook!
  • Sign up to canvas surrounding neighborhoods.
  • Provide childcare for canvasing groups.
  • Sign up for a training on IMA talking points
  • Identify opportunities for us to speak to interested groups or at events.
  • Remember this is good news for all children within our community as we work towards our ultimate goal of becoming part of MMSD.

Please let us know if you have any questions. We are here to listen and help in any way that we can.

River Food Pantry

Thanks to all who donated to the Upper Elementary food drive for River Food Pantry!

This afternoon, following our whole-school Thanksgiving sing-along gathering and lunch, twenty students from ages five to fourteen (along with three teachers and one visiting IMA alumna) walked from IMA to the food pantry with a wagon and a quadruple stroller full of food — 107 pounds of food total!

It was a beautiful walk, 2.4 miles in all, and we enjoyed talking with friends, picking up dried honey locust seed pods, and observing nature along the way. The River Food Pantry staff was very welcoming, and showed us the inside of the pantry; we plan to do more service work with this worthy organization in our neighborhood in the months to come.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Silent Journey & Discovery

Save The Date

“So, what do your kids do at school anyway?”

“Did you say monastery?”

“But how do they learn things like… math and language?”

Do you get these questions from family, friends, and neighbors? Do you have some of these questions?

Do you want a chance to see exactly what your child is learning in an AMI Montessori prepared environment?

Come to our Silent Journey & Discovery on Friday, November 3 & Saturday, November 4 for a two-part event.

Invite all the people with all the questions!

October 7th: Race to the Finn!

Dear Parents

I am Nicky Mondroski — mom of Evie, Finn and William and the lead parent on our scholarship fundraising event, Race to the Finn! October 7th is the 5th annual Race to the Finn at Burrows Park. We will have a 1mile, 5k and 10k race available and cost $25, $40 and $70 to walk or run. The race is named in honor of our son, Finnegan, who passed away on January 5th, 2013 from cancer and all proceeds go towards the Finnegan Ringdroski Scholarship.

Here are some ways you can help

1. We need more sponsors. Would your workplace like to donate $100? Their logo would appear on our race t-shirts. They can also throw in flyers or coupons into our race bags if they would like.

2. Ask your local veterinarian, dentist or chiropractor. It is affordable advertising for them.

3. Come to the race and participate! You can sign up here. This week, your children will receive an envelope that people can put donations in (and if your child raises the $25 for the mile — you don’t have to pay the admission fee).

4. Volunteer at the race. We will need help picking up donations (one is Ale Asylum beer!), setting up for the event and cheering on our kids!

Below is my Ask Letter that I take to businesses. If you want to know who has been asked, let me know. There is a list of 25 businesses already.

Thank you for all your help!

Montessori For All

Welcome to the 2017-18 school year! It was a great first day as we greeted friends old and new, and explored our refreshed indoor and outdoor environments.

We begin our sixth year in operation with over 100 students from ages 2 months to 15 years — as always, dedicated to #montessoriforall.

New School Year for 2017 – 2018!

Hello Families & Friends

We’re beginning our new 2017-2018 school year at IMA and we’re very excited. We have a number of new and exciting projects planned for this school year, and after a great (& hot) summer we’re eager to get started.

We’ve sent out a PDF of our school calendar for the new year, but we’re going to post it here as well for anyone who missed it the first time around. We’re still adding to our calendar so it might change somewhat in the coming weeks — we’ll be sure to stay in touch and let you know of any changes through email, Facebook and here on our web site.

Posted below is a PDF of our calendar as of 8/17/17. Let us know if you have any questions or problems with the calendar, and we’ll be in touch with you again about our new school year soon.
